Building robots these days is becoming less and less expensive. Builders are able to utilize all sorts of parts and pieces to put together a fully functional robot. Anybody with $10 and some time can find the parts and build their own robot. Here’s how.

Collect your parts. You can use all sorts of things to make a robot. Wheels can be made out of plastic bottle caps, for example. Find a few of those lying around and save them for your robot.

Step 2:
Find a motor or power source. Be creative. If you have an old gaming joystick or cellphone, you can use it to power your robot. There are even web applications that will allow you to program your robot online. Think outside the box and utilize items that you have.

Step 3:
Assemble the robot. With the parts that you have gathered, put them together so that you a device that will move. Whether it moves on plastic bottle caps or on some other sort of wheel, put the robot together.

Step 4:
Test the robot. Once the parts are assembled, test the robot to make sure that it works. If you have used a web application to program your robot, open it and make sure that it is functional.

That’s it! It is possible to build a robot for $10 or less by using what you have around your house. The only thing that will hold you back is a lack of creativity. An old cardboard box or an old kid’s toy can be used to create a completely functioning robot.
