How to Activate a New SIM Card on a T-Mobile Phone

If you have just bought a new SIM or swapped or updated your old SIM from T-Mobile, then you have to activate it. You could go to a nearby store to do that, or you could do it quickly from home with the following tips.

There are two ways to activate a new SIM – calling customer care or activating online.

• Through customer care:
1. Open the back cover of your phone.
2. Insert the SIM card as mentioned in the user guide.

3. Switch on your phone.
4. Call their customer care - 1-800-T-MOBILE (800-866-2453)
5. Tell them that you need to activate the SIM.
6. They will ask you about your SIM card number, phone model, IMEI, etc. For your convenience you should write the information regarding your SIM & phone before calling them.

• Online activation:
1. Insert the SIM and switch on your phone.

2. Go to this link -, from your PC’s browser, if you want to activate a swapped SIM. Or go to here - and log in if you are an existing user. If not, you should sign up for an account.

3. Then they will ask you to enter your phone number. So, enter your phone number on the 1st blank box & enter the word from the given image in the second blank box.

4. Click on ‘Submit’. Then they will text a 4-digit PIN to your phone number.
5. On the next page enter that PIN. Click on ‘Submit’
6. On the next page they will activate your SIM.
