How to Change Your Face ID in iPhone X

There can be several reasons to change your Face ID. You have grown or shaved your beards, you have done some major changes to your face, or you’re giving away or selling your iPhone X, to name a few.
Unfortunately iPhone X doesn’t allow you to change your Face ID straight away. Process is rather identical to setting up a new Face ID profile from the scratch, but with one additional step that is to remove your current Face ID profile.
Here’s how this can be done:
    Unlock your device
Press the Sleep/Wake button once, and look at your device’s screen or type a passcode. Pressing the Sleep/Wake button brings up the lock screen, and looking at your device’s screen unlocks it using your Face ID. Likewise, typing your passcode unlocks your device as well, but this works as a secondary method of authentication, i.e. when iPhone X fails to unlock using your Face ID. Since you want to change your Face ID, it’s assumed that you haven’t lost your iPhone and neither is it stolen.
Get to the Face ID & Passcode window
Tap Settings > Face ID & Passcode, and type your passcode. This opens the Face ID & Passcode window that lets you manage your Face ID, passcode, attention aware features, and other Face ID and passcode related controls. Face ID & Passcode window can be opened only by typing your passcode, and your Face ID authentication doesn’t work here.

    Reset your existing Face ID
Tap Reset Face ID. This deletes your existing Face ID while leaving your iPhone X protected only with the passcode.

Set up Face ID from the start

Tap Set Up Face ID, tap Get Started on the next window, and follow the on-screen instructions from there. This process lets you set up a new Face ID profile from the beginning.
