If you are looking to get alerts for the slightest chance of rain in your area, though, you will have to dig a bit deeper. Here’s how to make it happen.
Step 1
On the Apple app store, do a search for “dark sky.” You will find the Dark Sky weather app, a weather radar program that is able to tell you the exact times for rain or snow in your area up to an hour in advance. The app costs $3.99, but download it anyway if you are looking for a more robust and accurate weather application.
Step 2
Once you’ve downloaded Dark Sky, open the app and go to the settings menu. You should see an option for notification settings. Select it. The notifications menu will pop up.
Step 3
From the notifications menu you can set various settings for push notifications. For instance, you can specify the hours of the day during which you would like to receive push notifications. So, if you don’t want Dark Sky to wake you up during the night, this is the best way to avoid it.
You can also play with the settings for what kinds of precipitation you want to be alerted about. For example, if you want your phone to tell you when a heavy storm is coming, but don’t care about a few drops of rain on an otherwise dry day, you can specify that here.
