Tumblr allows users to tag their posts, which is similar to adding labels. Tags will allow these posts to be searched with the “tags” or keywords. Tags let other users find posts about specific keywords that they searched. With easy tags, your post will be easier to find and will likely draw more attention than if you did not use tags.
Step 1: To create a post, go to your dashboard. In your dashboard, you will find your blog name. Next to your profile name, there will be a small arrow. Click the arrow to choose which blog you will post to. The dialogue box that appears is where you will create and alter the content for this post.
Step 2: In the dialogue box, you'll see a gear icon in the top right corner of the screen. Select the gear to add the content source, set a unique URL, set a post date, and allows replies. This will modify the settings for this particular post, but not all posts. You have a text box in which you can type a title for your post, and a toolbar below to change the font, add hyperlinks, add photos, and customize your post.
Step 3: At the bottom of the dialogue box, you will see a field with a tag icon next to it. This is the text box in which you can type your tags. Choose your keywords, as they will help others find this post, and they will help you keep your own posts organized.
After you type each tag word, hit “enter” to add more. When you're finished, you can publish the post, and your tags will appear with it.
