You can unlock a majority of Temple Run 2's characters without spending any real-world money. Instead, you can use the in-game coins to unlock more characters. Here's how to do it:
Steps:
1. Start the game by tapping on the ‘Temple Run 2’ icon on your device.
2. You will need some coins to unlock the characters. Play some rounds to get coins by tapping on the ‘Play’ button.
3. If you have enough coins to unlock characters, tap on ‘Menu’.
4. On the next page tap on ‘Upgrades’.
5. You will find some characters to unlock with coins. Swipe left or right to browse through the characters.
6. Tap on ‘Unlock’ on your desired character’s image to get that character in the game. You will lose coins for unlocking the characters.
