App Switcher in iPhone and iPad has two uses, namely:
[listNum]■To quickly switch between the opened apps
■To close the opened apps

In the pre-iPhone X iOS devices, you could get to the App Switcher by double-pressing the Home button. However, since the Home button is absent in iPhone X, you might wonder how to get to the App Switcher.
The good news is, accessing and using App Switcher is even smoother in iPhone X.
Here’s how:
Tap your preferred app’s thumbnails. This opens the corresponding app on the screen for you to work on.
To Close an App
Tap the Close icon on the thumbnail of the app you don’t need. This closes the app, and brings the thumbnail beneath it at the front. Repeat the steps individually to close all the apps opened in the background.
