How To Use The Oculus Rift With SteamVR

If you want to install the SteamVR properly so it can work with your Oculus Rift you will need to take couple of required steps, so the process can be done successfully. With this few quick steps you will be able to play Steam and SteamVR games when you use your Oculus Rift headset. Follow this simple guide to do this:

Step 1. Check if your Rift is installed properly

  ■ If you haven’t installed your Rift properly download the Oculus Home setup
  ■ After the installation you will be able to launch with no problem

Step 2. Enable Unknown Sources

  ■ Take the headset off and look into the Oculus desktop application.
  ■ At the top right you will see Settings > click General > select the Unknown Sources switch.
  ■ Don’t close the Oculus desktop application

Step 3. The next thing to do is to install the SteamVR

  ■ After you install it launch it.
  ■ A popup window will appear from which you will install SteamVR. If the window does not appear, go to Library>tools and you can install the SteamVR from there.

Step 4. Launch SteamVR

  ■ When the installation is finished search for the VR icon – it should be on the top right of the Steam window.
  ■ Click on the icon so you can launch SteamVR
  ■ Put your headset on to see the Virtual Reality version of SteamVR > to open the SteamVR menu press the back button on Xbox One controller.
