You need to make sure that you make the necessary preparations to deal with its poison. And if you want to know more about the monster including its attacks, strengths and weaknesses then you should read the guide given below:
General Information:
Pukei-Pukei is one of the monsters that will not leave you until the end of the game and even after its completion as it is in a post-game quest. The quests that are based on Pukei-Pukei are: Urgent: Pukei-Pukei Hunt, Scatternut Shortage, Invader in the Waste, Googly-Eyed Green Monster and Pukei-Pukei Ambush. But besides these quests, the monster also makes appearances in different quests. This is a Bird Wyvern that is available in Low-Rank, High-Rank, and Tempered Threat Level 1 variants.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
When it comes to the strengths of the Pukei-Pukei, it is very strong against Water element and somewhat strong against the Dragon element. And when it comes to the Ailments, it is somewhat strong against the Poison Ailment. Now about the weaknesses, the Pukei-Pukei is very weak against the Thunder element and also against the Sleep and Paralysis ailments. And is moderately weak against the rest of the elements and ailments.

As always, your first priority should be to eat a good meal before fighting this monster. And although this monster rarely flies, packing one or two Flash Pods will be a good idea. And besides these, make sure to get a Fire or Thunder element weapon and take some Sleep or Paralysis ailments as well.
The Pukei-Pukei is a monster that spews venom in different ways so it is recommended that you take antidotes with you. It can spit the venom as a three-spit combo or as a single gob. It can also spew a mist of venom. The tail of the Pukei-Pukei also dispenses poison so be careful on its back as well.

Make sure to not attack too frequently as this monster is both agile and fast. In addition to the poisonous attacks, it will also perform charges, lunges, leaping claw attacks and tail swipes. And like the Kulu-Ya-Ku it is a bit flighty but it retains the ability to fly so make sure to get your scoutfly level up before you engage with it as it will come in handy if it flees.

The Low Rank of Pukei-Pukei does not drop any rare items but its High-Rank version drops the Bird Wyvern Gem which is very rare carve or reward. But besides these things, there is not much to note about the Pukei-Pukei as it is a basic monster.
