The quest is simple and easy to complete. You don’t require extra resources, or level up to trigger the quest. Just wait for the correct time, and let the natural progression of the storyline; do the work for you.
Walkthrough
The quest begins just before the end of the year on 26th of winter.
You might want to write the date down somewhere. Gus, who is the owner of Stardrop Saloon, wants to eat Albacore for his menu. He asks you to fish one for him. This is a tricky proposition because the Albacore only appears during the winter and the fall. You will have only three days to catch it before it disappears for two whole months.
Albacore appears in just one area of Stardew Valley and that is the ocean or in other words, down at the beach. So head to the Willy’s Shop and start fishing from the dock, use a high-quality rod (Fiberglass or up) with some Bait.
It should not take that long to catch an Albacore. These fish are somewhat sneaky so it is highly unlikely that you succeed unless you have developed your Fishing Skill by at least two or three levels and also don’t be disappointed if it takes more than a few tries. Fishing requires patience.
Once you have the Albacore take it to Gus. He usually spends most of his day at Stardrop Saloon, with occasional trips to Pierre’s, so he’s usually pretty easy to find. He’ll give you 400 gold as a reward. To collect your reward, you will need to open your journal (This can be done by either pressing “J” on your keyboard or by clicking on the exclamation mark below the gold total. Once you are in the Journal, click on the reward at the bottom of your “Fish Stew Category” and voila you have completed the quest.
