There are many buildings that you can make in Stardew Valley and one of the most important and useful buildings that you can make in Stardew Valley is the Silo. The Silo is not only important because it feeds animals in extreme weather conditions, but it is also important because it saves a lot of time and money after it is built.
The best part about the silo is that it does not require many materials and it doesn’t take up too much space either. In fact it can be made on any land that is 3 by 3 as long as something isn’t in the way.
The silo is a really basic early game building but it remains useful throughout the time that you play the game. It is also very easy and cheap to make. All that you need to make it are 100 stone, 10 clay and 5 copper bars. On top of that you will need 100 gold to pay for Robin to make it and it will be ready in just 2 days. The importance of the silo cannot be understated as it is essential for feeding your animals. There are two ways to get hay in the game.
You can buy it outright from Marnie and that will cost you 50 gold per piece but if you make the silo you can cut all the grass that is growing on your farm and that will transfer into the silo as hay. Keep in mind though; grass has a 50% chance of turning in to hay so it might take a while to fill up the whole silo.
Throughout all the seasons except winter the animals on your farm will eat the grass as long as you let them out but they refuse to go out when it is raining or in any day of the winter. Therefore it is important to store as much hay as you can so that you can feed them when they do not want to go out.
There are some tips for using the silo as well. The first is to build it near your animal pens so that you can check how much hay you have. The second is to make it as soon as possible because it saves you a lot of money in the early game when funds are low. You should also think about investing in more than one silo as there is no limit to how many you can build.
One full silo will feed 8 animals for one month so if you have more you also need another silo and the time to fill it up with hay. You should also never buy hay as it is too expensive. You should either wait till the season is about to end and then cut the grass the animals haven’t eaten yet or you should buy grass starter seeds and let grass grow freely in your farm so that you can fill your silo whenever you can.
