Use “Hey Siri” in iOS 8

“Hey Siri” is a new feature for Apple's artificial intelligence, Siri. It allows the user to wake their device (only while it is plugged in and charging) by saying, “Hey Siri” and waiting for a response. To use this feature, you have to follow a few simple steps.

Step 1: First, go into your settings. To do this, you open the Settings app, tap on “General” and then on "Siri." Once you have opened the Siri options you should see a switch next to the Allow “Hey Siri” option which you should turn on. The bar will turn green when it’s enabled.

Step 2: Once “Hey Siri” is enabled you can use it whenever the device is plugged in, regardless of what else you are doing (or not doing, it works while it’s locked as well) on the device. You just say “Hey Siri” and then continue talking like you would to another person.

Step 3: Once you’ve woken Siri up you can use it just like you would have before the new feature. You can ask Siri all sorts of questions, and it will look up the answers for you or just talk to you, depending on what you say.

Recap: “Hey Siri” is a great addition to an already great program for Apple devices. Simply go into the settings, turn the feature on, and you’re ready to go.

When you're not plugged in, this feature won't work. You can still use Siri the regular way, by holding the home button until it pops up and signals for you to speak.
