    Laptop Smells Like Burning Plastic

Fire hazard at this point. Burnt traces caused from a short somewhere from the picture. Work with circuit boards, this board would be scrapped at work from visible internal damage to copper traces. You definitely don't want a Li-Po or Li-ion fire from laptop.

Looking for decent speakers ....any suggestions?

I've been using Logitech speakers for about 15 yrs now. Using Z-906 setup now. Very happy with them. What kind of speaker configuration are you thinking of using?

Oculus rift Cv1 juddering issues gtx 1080??

Do other games all work correctly outside of VR? This can help narrow things down. I'm guessing you have the latest Nvidia drivers, as well as other drivers and UEFI version for your motherboard. What settings have you changed for your GTX 1080? Outside of this, have you tried other USB...

It may have come to that, it just doesn't seem to want to recognize the AMD card anymore.

You could try sites like this http://www.oldapps.com/ati.php?system=Windows_7 to try older drivers than omega. If these don't work, and temps are fine, it could be a hardware problem. Doesn't seem like software after multiple windows installs using same drivers for other notebook components.

    Unknown problem with graphics card

It's starting to sound like the AMD card may be bad. It's BSODing when you try to install drivers for it. Are there any BIOS options to force AMD as primary graphics output?, or was there a setting used to switch from AMD to Intel before when gaming?

It's been awhile since last posting on here. Could you perhaps go over the problem again. Since Windows didn't change anything, it's unlikely software. What are yours temps like? Fan speed good for CPU?

I'm hopeful that's it just a software problem. A complete re-install of Windows should be able to answer this problem once and for all. I'll keep checking back here for your reply.

Well, I guess that idea's out the Window. Most the the Lenovo software isn't required for you notebook to run correctly, it's just Lenovo's software version to make things look better than the stock Windows versions, though features may require Lenovo software. Which ones however, I couldn't...

There may be some lenovo software you can get from their site, but most of it is bloatware. However on you list, I see "Create Recover Media". Have you tried this? It is used to burn DVDs of your original image in case of HDD failure. If you can make these, your essentially making your own...

Your right about some of the lenovo specific software, though I'm not sure what your using. You will be able to download the drivers to make you system work/function correctly for the specific features of the laptop. What software provided by lenovo are you using?

Were you able to find an install disc for reinstalling Windows? I'm still thinking this is your best route to go at this point.

Sounds like you may have corruption on the drive containing the backup. Do you have a physical copy of Windows you could borrow to install, and use your existing installation key. If you run a program such as Speccy, it will tell you your key, if it's not already printed on the bottom of the...

    Unknown problem with graphics card

Do you have multiple drives in your notebook? If so, and the data is on a secondary drive, it will most likely stay intact. Typically the image backups that are created/restored are only going to affect the primary drive, unless you change the default settings. However, if your unsure, you...
