I reinstalled my drivers several times, but to no avail. I'm using a 3.5mm as my connection.

I recently had my PC formatted and ever since then, my PC doesn't seem to detect ANY sound related hardware. I've already updated my drivers and tried using different speakers and stuff.

So a while back I read somewhere that my PC MAY have an extra core or something that I can unlock. So my question is this. Is there an extra core that I can unlock? If so, how? What difference will it make? And would it be in any way harmful to my PC? These are my specs (Sorry bout how lengthy...
