    Can't remove nasty virus

    I think you can run linux edition on DVD version and scan your PC , you can use bitdefender and avast linux version ,Actually you dont need and antivirus software for linux but this way will be usefull for you .

    Help desperately needed. Something is force shutting down all programs and some processes.

    You can turn back a different time to have good working condition ,I think you have some backup .Could you try this way ,It should work .
