Thank you all so much for your advice sadly nothing worked. I tried GIMP it didn't work. All the photos are about the same size almost the same as the ones that are able to be seen. Another friend suggested ZAR which did recover 2 photos but none of the photos taken of the Grand Canyon or...

I will give Gimp a try, have never heard of that.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager is what is on my computer. I haven't had this problem before. I tried using Windows Photo viewer and it says it can't open this photo because it either doesn't support this type of file or I don't have the latest photo viewer updates.

I have a 2GB card in my canon camera - I took 360 photos, downloaded to computer but only 160 are visible the rest show JPEG format and size but wont open. Is that too many photos on the card . The message says can't open that format.
