    My internal mic stops working when I plug in Headphones

    Just did this myself. Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Dell Audio "the one all the way on the bottom">Advanced tab>Jack information>then auto enable diallog pop up from now and change it to headset :) worked for me
