In my opinion, gaming headphones are just gimmicks. You would get better sound quality and surround with a pair of audiophile headphones. i recommend the Sennheiser 558 for gaming, really good experience. It has good 3d effect if that is what your looking for.

Maybe the the headphone drivers are messed up(I mean the physical drivers). Try to get it fixed if under warranty

One cannot simply "add more ram." For full compatibility, the ram has to be completely identical. Ram timings, manufacturer, mhz , voltage can all cause severe compatibility issues.
