The tv on other sources .have tried vga to hdmi connector on another tv does the same thing says no signal and shuts down- barryg515

Sorry don't know how to post a video . My problem is my hdmi ports stopped working and after watching a video on u tube I bought a vga to hdmi connector but tv is saying no signal and shutting down . The tv is a 32 " ALBA- barryg515
