Do I need multiple HDMI inputs on Surround Sound Receiver or will 1 HDMI work? TV has 4 HDMI Inputs.

I want a surround sound system & have PC(hdmi), TV (hdmi), xbox(hdmi), & Cable Box all hooked up to it. Do I need multiple inputs on surround sound receiver? Or if I plug these devices into my TV HDMI inputs will they utilize the surround sound?
