The i5 is the better choice, in this instance, it is a hyperthreaded dual core, so it can run 4 threads if needed, but only has two physical cores. This saves energy (better battery life) and the clock speed is higher which is what matters for most games as opposed to more cores.

The BIOS on that card are read only (You can't flash a new BIOS) Toxic will unlock for sure. Lots of others are hit or miss. However, you can see performance increase as good, or sometimes better if you just overclock you 6950 with the 1408 shaders
