Take the one with the i5 + 960m, the GPU on that is better and the CPU is more than enough.
With neither laptops you'll be able to play the latest games at maximum details, but the GTX 960M should be able to perform alright at 1080p low.
If you have installed a dual channel RAM kit with at least 1600MHz, it may be possible to play some games, even some more modern games.
My Intel HD graphics 4000 with 2x4GB 1866MHz of RAM, could run Crysis 3 at 1080p low settings.

Sorry, you can't upgrade your CPU because the Pentium 987 is embedded, that means it's soldered to the motherboard.
You can only upgraded the RAM and the mass storage.
Check its price in the second hand market, if it still has a price that is more than the repair cost, repair it and sell it immediately.
Otherwise, just buy a new phone and sell it as spare parts.
