For music, I use Google Play Music, which allows me to stream music over cellular data as cache, or download and store it over Wi-Fi/data.
I also have a Chromecast, which allows me to use my phone as a control of what is streamed over Wi-Fi to my TV.

You could buy a 1080p monitor, and use that as the primary or secondary display.
This can be connected by either the VGA or HDMI output on the side of your laptop.
This phone seems to get better life after several charging cycles. I would wait for 2 weeks to see.
Also, try a reboot (shut down and power +).
Also, be sure to close background apps.
Do you have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit? This version only supports 16GB max of RAM.
