My surround sound system is connected through an auxiliary to RCA cable, but it is acting as a front speaker set, with no center or rear. Is there any way to fix this?

I'm just trying to science fair some stuff here, so as to potentially increase my knowledge of computer-related stuff. I broke both the HDD in my laptop and the SATA connector on my laptops motherboard, which isn't really a big deal, as I have a dedicated desktop computer that I use way more...
