    Thunderbolt 3 and PCIE Gen 3 lanes

    I have been wondering about this for a long time. I have a laptop that has a USB C port which is capable of supporting Thunderbolt 3. However, it only has 2 PCIE Gen 3 lanes. So am I able to get 40GBPS of speeds as advertised or am I only able to get 20GBPS as I only have 2 lanes.
