I would say trying going through your power settings and check that you don't have it on power saving. Maybe that can be causing the computer to not use as much power.

Do you have anything else you can test the microphone on? How do you plug in the headset and microphone? USB, 3.5mm, etc.. If you can give the model of your headset it would also be helpful.

Sorry guys the problem was the HDD I forgot to post the solution here when I figured it out. If anyone is having a problem similar to what I explained up top then most likely its your HDD.
