    If a laptop is well ventilated & cooling is working as intended (no dust/dried thermal paste etc) an cooling pad wont help much, more like 1-3c. But i would still say that a cooling pad is a must-have for a laptop, for example you can keep it on your bed/lap without "suffocating" & overheating...

    could be cause of overheating and CPU/GPU throttling? edit : download HWinfo, start it, go play w/e game you want, when the fps drops go check max temperatures.
