Trying to choose laptop based on processor

Thanks, I am eyeballing a deal on an HP with an A10-5745M. Its a 17" refurb, which is a little bigger than what I had in mind, but I think I'll take a shot on it.

Trying to choose laptop based on processor

I'm out of the loop when it comes to mobile computing, and I'm in a time crunch. So, I thought I would ask the good members of Tom's Hardware for their input. I'm looking for a laptop as a gift for a young teen. It will be used for school work, but I know that he will want to do some light...

    4K or 1080?

Thanks for the prompt replies. You have further convinced me against 4K, but I have a new problem. I came across a used Vizio M551D-A2R. This is a 2013 model, 55", 3D, edge lit, 1080 TV. It can currently be had new @ $850. The individual wants $600, which seems like a good deal. But I'm...

    4K or 1080?

I am going to purchase a new TV. My ultimate question is, should I get a 50" 4K or a 55"- 60" 10180? (I'm looking at the Visio P and M series) I consume all of my media from a desktop. Most of it will not be in 4K resolution, but I am wondering how well the conversion will be. Also, when using...

Do you use : No Antivirus , FREE Antivirus , or PAID Antivirus and why?

I use AVG free edition, and run SpyBot S&D Tea Timer. When those don't work, and a couple of times they haven't, I reach for MalWare Bytes. I don't recommend keeping more than 2 anti-malware/ virus programs running at the same time though.

    Powering car amp using PSU

No problem. Although I would not recommend it, but when I was very young I had a similar set up hooked up to a car battery on a battery charger. LOL, it was a very bad idea for all kinds of reasons, but it worked, and I didn't know any better. I would put your current equipment up for sale and...

    Powering car amp using PSU

There are ways to achieve this, but most of them are questionable. Connecting all the positive leads and all of the negative leads will work, but damage to any one of the components could occur (most likely one of the PSUs). The safest way to draw current from both supplies, would be to install...
