All around good computer for your task. If you could spent more money you could get a little nicer laptop, but thats true for most things. But @ 400 it adequately suits your needs just fine:)

Yeah that does. Your SSD is running fine but the instal was bad. The red "1307649 K-bad" means your ssd is missaligned. Google "1-k BAD AS SSD" and youll see half a dozen post with your issue. Basically my mguess is that the instal didnt partion correctly on your SSD and thats whats slowing it down.

Can you run a benchmarch test on your ssd? I use AS SSD test that i downloaded from MajorGeeks. Then we can see your read and write speed. Thanks

No Macs. Tablets are usually sealed, along with 2-in-1, so not those. Any big PC brand youre good.

Also, if you do want to spend the full budget, Asus (would be my first guess) or another brand probably makes something with the same specs that weighs less. That's very important some people but is usually something they dont think about untill they start carrying it aorund.

For that money you can get something with an SSD and integrated graphics. Both make for a better laptop. I'd starth there.
