Im sure a reason of limiting 3D games to 720p, the nVidia RSX (PS3 gpu) is based of two GeForces 6800 Ultra in 2-way SLI with a total of 512MB DDR3 RAM. Can a GF 6800 Ultra SLI handle game resolutions 1920x1080 at 60fps and 3D vision?? I doubt it.
