Personally, I use the One Plus Watch 2R and it has been one of the best smartwatches I have used to date and it was cheap, so it's perhaps not a stretch to suggest the One Plus Watch 3. But other than that, I don't have experience with the others.

There's no incentive to do so. SMS is ancient, and why bother fixing it? Apps exist. Apps that use data which comes at a higher premium price from the carriers. The carriers have soaked all the financial potential out of SMS.
