I am working on Satellite C55-B5299 and experienced the same thing. I took out the motherboard to replace the RTC battery and THERE ISN'T ONE! This is a low-end laptop and the main battery is held in by two screws. It appears they saved a couple bucks by omitting it and counting on the end...
