I have Bose Companion 2 Series III speakers hooked up to my PC (3.5mm). I have onboard sound with a headphone amp through my Asus Maximus Hero IX motherboard (I know, onboard is not great regardless). Since windows (or my drivers, either way) don't let me swap the cables and then produce sound...
