Hi there amit_119,
Well yeah. Your laptop would run better.
Yet, you need to keep in mind that boot/loading times would be affected the most, not the overall gaming performance. (like graphics, etc.)

Hi there Abdul_54,
Technically, yeah, you can do that. Take a look at that thread: http://superuser.com/questions/982577/how-to-run-windows-10-from-an-external-hard-drive
Yet, you will need to try that and see if you will be satisfied with the performance. (boot and loading times)
Make sure it...
Hi there NellyD,
Most probably, something went wrong with the updates.
It looks like you will need to perform a clean OS installation. Just back up the data stored on the drive before that. There are many tutorials on the topic.

Hi there Harsh_24,
I assume that the drive is not recognized by Disk Management but by Device Manager. Am I right?
If this is the case, my suggestion would be to attach the drive to another computer and see if it would get recognized by Disk Management. That way you will be sure if there's...
Hi there miker2808,
That is really unpleasant. :(
As you think that there's something wrong with your drive, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on it.
Once you do that, you can test the drive with WD's DLG tool (both short and extended tests)...
Hi there Tim_133,
Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(
It may be a good idea to back up the data until you sort that out.
What is the file system of the drive? You can check that out if you go to Disk Management.
What are the supported file systems by your TV? (NTFS...
Hi Lord_of_laugh,
As rgd1101 said, you need to go to Disk Management and see how the drive appears over there. If there is some unallocated space, you can either extend the existing partition or create a new one.

Hi there Dheeraj_12,
Have you tried something simple as just attaching the drive with a different cable to another computer? You can try that out.
If the issue persists, you can see if you will manage to access the data with some data recovery tool...
Hi there hawthe,
I would agree with hang-the-9. There's a chance that your HDD is failing. Just back up the data stored on the drive and test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
If the HDD is in a healthy state, then you can boot...
Hi there sentinel1,
I would say that the drive is most probably failing as well.
You can use a brand specific (or a third party one) testing tool that can provide a SMART report. Look for pending/reallocated and uncorrectable sectors.
If your system can't really boot, you will need to use a...
Hi there disableblue,
Unfortunately, most probably, the HDD is failing. This is why, you should really back up the data stored on the drive.
Once you do that and when the laptop boots up just fine, you can check it's health status...
It's great that you've posted back. :)
Did you test the drive? What was wrong with it?
I believe there were some bad sectors on it right?
Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)
Well, as the laptop behaves the same way with Ubuntu, then I would agree with jsmithepa and say that it has some hardware problem.
Is it under warranty? In case it is, you can just contact the manufactuer's Support on that and eventually RMA it.
Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)
Hi there norouzi4d,
Are you sure you are shutting down the laptop? (make sure it is not in hibernation, sleep, etc.) How do you shut it down?
I don't really think that a drive could keep on spinning, after the system shuts down.
Can you provide a video of the whole thing?
Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)
Hi there NaranJust,
I would agree with engineer5261. Unforutantely, the HDD is most probably dead.
You can either send it to a data recovery company, if the data stored on it is really important or RMA it if under warranty.
Also, it would really not hurt to try to attach it to a desktop...
