Sorry, I should have clarified. I know that there is analog stereo input, but I'd like to route my laptop VIDEO through the receiver. Can I route VGA video through this receiver?
If I'd have to use a converter to convert it from analog to digital, it's not worth it to me.
Here is the link to my receiver model, Insignia NS-R5101AHD-A.
This is my first receiver and I'm wondering if it can take analog signal, adapted from my laptop VGA output (with sound coming through a 3.5mm to RCA splitter). I see a lot of composite and component and I'm not 100 clear on if...
While it makes intuitive sense to use an RCA connection from the output labeled 10 on the receiver to the L/mono input on the subwoofer, I'm still hesitant because of what the subwoofer's manual says. Could someone offer more peace of mind about this.
The manual says,
"Some amplifiers have...
I'm an audio hardware novice, but I'm not afraid to learn and tackle projects. I obtained the Pioneer CS-G301WA speakers below for free and they work, but the mid range is obviously busted. I know these aren't top of the line speakers, but I'm on a budget and they were free and I think they'll...
Thanks so much for answering! Why then does the manual say not to connect the subwoofer to the PRE OUT? And the speaker terminals on the sub aren't used at all? In what cases would they be used?
I just got a subwoofer to use with my Insignia NS-R5101AHD-A receiver. I'm new to audio system setup and am not sure how this works. Based on the below, do I run an RCA from my receiver Pre amp to the sub's L/Mono input or not?
The subwoofer manual says:
"Some amplifiers have line output...
ssdx, thanks for the fantastic answer. You've taught me a few things and helped me think through the situation. I think that, considering my budget and simple needs, getting an amplifier would work. I found a couple of sub-$30 amps on Amazon that would work. Here's one. Here's another that...
The extent of my audio setup experience has been 3.5mm jacks and USB ports on a computer. Now I have a legit TV and I want to use external speakers. Here's what my TV has:
1) "Digital Audio Out (optical)"
2) "Audio Out (FIX) R/L" - looks like red/white RCA
Here's what I've gleaned from...
My TV's speakers aren't great and I'm looking for a marginal upgrade on a budget. I've used computer speakers that connect view 3.5mm or USB, but I don't understand my TV's connectors very well. It looks like my audio-out options are:
1) "Digital Audio Out (Optical)"
2) "Audio Out (Fix) R/L" -...
Thanks for the feedback. I believe they are PNP transistors (based on the Youtube video). So, seeing as how the far right resistor is open and the far right transistor reads so differently than the others, would you suggest starting by replacing those two components?
I've got an Onkyo TX-SR606 that's stuck in protection mode. I found a video of someone diagnosing a blown transistor/resistor on a similar model that caused the same symptom. Not being an expert, I took a look. See picture below.
All of the white rectangular resistors measured properly except...
This 50" Panasonic from 2007 has lost all input functionality except the coaxial tuner input. Company says the board for the other inputs is dead and I don't want to spend the money to fix it.
What are my options? I'd like to be able to take a digital signal (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc.) and convert...
