Simple answer = no. You could buy a custom desktop for cheaper with better specs. id say minimum ram you need is 16gb these days, and 1tb ssd. AMD have decent CPU but this wouldlt be on my list. hope i helped.

im going to answer part of your question. If you want to reduce the virus risk.. linux. you want to also gain more control.. linux. linux is not for the everyday user, but there are many manuals on how to operate efficiently. i recommend linux

in regards to jailbreaks i recommend against it. if you want a more "free" phone .. go to android. But many jailbreaks get patched these days.

have you tried connection the via hdmi? cport?

where did you purchase replacement from? sounds to me it may be a faulty battery. the computer should still power on via charging cable regardless of battery.

check laptop specs. make sure the ram youve fitted is accepted. im a little confused though, you said it did the same with the old ram? and hdd? explain please

laptops tend to get hot. i recommend manually controlling the fans, boost them accordingly.

i do apologize in advance, as soon as i saw blue screen i stopped reading. blue screen of death can be caused by poorly written device drivers or malfunctioning hardware, such as faulty memory, power supply issues, overheating of components, or hardware running beyond its specification limits...

try a fresh install.

if your screen is going on and off, this is an issue with the screen connection. Maybe the wires are damaged. Before trying to repair take into account the price of laptop and repair cost. may be just better off buying a new laptop. or connecting to a monitor.

When did this happen? sounds to me like something shorting..

Does the laptop turn on? just doesn't complete the boot cycle? or is it unresponsive?

Electrical faults are unpredictable - if your continuing to use this please ensure its not left running without you there. Also very possible that the connection was loose? which created the pop noise?
