I would like to know your take on which laptop to choose for about 1000-1300 euros. If there are any other laptops that you consider might be better, please recommend them. I plan to get the Asus with i5 5200u, 1800p display, 8gb of ram and 128gb ssd which I would replace with a 256gb one...

depends on the virus. Can do many many things.

Laptops are pretty tricky. There is no reason to assume everything in your laptop is lost forever, the files can be recovered by a pc repair shop. I would really suggest taking it to one, since unlike desktops, it's very hard to diagnose, take parts out and find the source of the problem.

warranties are international, I emailed them a couple times and they have a very good support system.
