Maybe you can solve it if you use a win7 pc. I had problems too with my xp pc.

I would go for the new kindle fire hd 7". It's nearly 140$ and is pretty a good tablet. Or maybe you can get a chinese one, like Onda v701s and onda v711s, quad core, 7" ips screen (v711s), android 4.1.1 and 1gb ram. Or maybe a Cube, Pipo and Ainol Novo. You also can try for a refurbished nexus...
