What is your max budget? The 5400 RPM drive in that laptop is going to be a killer in terms of speed.

I think that laptop will be just fine for what you need. It has a nice gpu in it as well, and for the price you can't go wrong.

Your laptop really won't be upgradable. If you had a desktop, then it might have a chance, but how old is your laptop is my first question?
