Yeah I am kind of thinking Mac is out of the question until I am ready to drop 2k on a laptop haha. Well, okay, good to know that the i5 would be sufficient for pretty basic stuff. I'll look into newegg and see what they have for that range! :D

Any other ideas then? I would definitely consider a windows laptop (I've been a windows user my entire life). My budget is maxed at 500 bucks, which kinda brings down my options, I know, but what would people recommend? An i5 core, or an AMD?

So, I've got a desktop pc and I was considering selling it, and buying a Macbook for whatever I get out of the desktop. I do mostly photo editing, but have recently been getting into light video editing and making 3d rendered videos in after effects. My pc: AMD Propus Quad Core 2.6 8 gigs...
