Because it speeds up the render process but after making a Blu-ray disc with the GPU enabled and compared it to a disc when the GPU was dis enabled the quality was the same, for a 6 minute clip dis enables took 6 minutes to convert and with the GPU enabled it took 20 seconds to do the same render
