It turns out that the mic at the other end was sending my own voice back to me. When I had the other person mute it, I ceased hearing my own voice. As a further check, I called a cell phone and had no problem there, either. And somewhere along the way, I must have changed a setting or done...

Now that's really strange. I changed the playback device setting back and the person at the other end still couldn't hear me!

That actually made it worse. I still hear myself, but now the person at the other end doesn't.

Listen to this device was not checked. However, it was the default playback device and I changed that to the speakers (which I imagine will actually be the headphones). I can't test it at the moment, so I don't know if that change has done the trick. I hope to report within the next 12 hours...
