No, thing is I don't think it's necessary to have touched the power supply to fix the motherboard.

My laptop just shutdown with no warning, and doesn't respond other then removing all power, purging the residual charge then connecting the power cord. I don't believe it to be the power as I got it to respond twice and didn't touch it the second time. I've had the laptop since last Christmas...
