My brother offered me his old Inspiron 1545 with 3GB RAM, which I snapped up and upgraded with a second-hand Core 2 Duo P9600 and Sandisk 128GB SSD. Found it quite a challenge to get the SSD in HD caddy to mate with the internal SATA and power connector (symptom was BIOS not detecting the drive)...
