I would avoid the fancy new laptops with high pixel density displays i.e. Lenovo Y50, Razerblade 14, MSI Dragon 3K as these laptops currently suffering from scaling issues and unable to play games at satisfying settings at native resolutions (Y50 being the worst), but playing at 1080p is even...
Yes, make sure it has updates to the latest 4.4.2 Kitkat which is a substantial improvement over 4.3 Jelly Bean in terms of memory usage and background processes. Highly recommend the Moto G as a cheap and very fast option, also such a beautiful screen.
Sorry, I can be accused of presuming you'd bricked your phone. If you don't already know about XDA developer forum, it is the font of all knowledge when it comes to rooting. Check out this post and the section on Rooting. 2 methods at the moment...
Are you able to get to the stock bootloader? Follow these steps and try to perform a factory reset.
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to...
Not 100% sure as I don't use the messenger app (because it has savage wakelocks) but you could try looking in storage > sdcard0 (or main storage if you're on a stock ROM) > Android > data > com.facebook.ocra > cache. There might be a chat backup file of some description.
You can use Astro File...
MSI GT 60 Dominator with GTX 870M would be a good choice. Not sure about upgradeability. I know Alienware are brilliant for upgradeability but they are owned by Dell so....
I really struggled to find ANY laptop at this price point with 1080p screen. This might be a bit more power than you need but it has an i7 processor and dual graphics http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-15-6-inch-Processor-Graphics-Windows/dp/B00FSBFBD2
I would get GT 840M as it is based on the new Maxwell architecture which is incredibly energy efficient and runs cool. Performance may increase too as driver optimisations are released. No brainer! Get the newest tech :)
Rest of the build is great.
You'll struggle to get anything more powerful than a GTX 760M at that price point apparently. I did find an MSI laptop with an A10 APU and a 8970M but I can't recommend AMD mobile chips because they are awful.
Take a look at this laptop. The reviews there are really positive...
Oh no! That doesn't sound very promising! Ebuyer are an excellent company though. They would deal with any problems very quickly. I bought an Alienware laptop 4 years ago and it is still going strong so if you can be patient and save up a bit more money, I'd definitely recommend them. You can...
I found these two options available from Ebuyer.
First option http://www.ebuyer.com/583053-msi-ge60-gaming-laptop-ge60-2od-286uk. GTX 760M and i5 4200M (dual core with hyperthreading) are both quite lightweight but should handle the games you list.
Second option...
