No, i get picture but no sound if i go directly to tv from dvd player. But i run my roku with hdmi thru the receiver and to the tv with hdmi as well

I have a samsung plasma (2009) phillips dvd (2008) both have hdmi and a denon receiver with hdmi in and out. I use roku streaming tv with hdmi out as well all works except dvd, i get hdcp message on tv. I tried going from dvd to tv without receiver and i get picture but no sound. PLEASE HELP
