Asus STRIX SOAR and Razer Tiamat 7.1 odd issue

Hmm...really not sure what's going on then. At the very least, make sure no post-processing it getting enabled when you switch to 7.1; that could potentially kill the signal.

Asus STRIX SOAR and Razer Tiamat 7.1 odd issue

Question: The Sub fires for stereo output correct? Just want to rule out the audio in question not having a sub channel. It's also possible that some games don't have a native 7.1 track, and are doing some post-processing that is killing the sub channel (doubt it, but it's possible). Aside...

    Sound Card, Should I buy?

No. USB is it's own thing; it doesn't go through a motherboards or soundcard hardware, a USB audio device is it's own soundcard. Yes, but keep in mind that most soundcards do not focus on audio input nearly as much as output. If you want something more geared toward recording, then I would...

    optical out solution

Question: Does your headset support 5.1? If so, then you likely need a soundcard that supports either Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect to support getting 5.1 audio out over Optical.

Is your gaming headset sound quality determined by sound card?

No. All the audio data will be transferred wirelessly as a digital signal via bluetooth, and the headsets internal DAC will handle all the audio processing.

Does headset software conflict with a sound card?

That depends; is the headset USB or 3.5mm? If it's USB, your soundcard is preempted in any case. If its 3.5mm, the software shouldn't be necessary.

    USB Sound card vs onboard

The DAC will certainly be better, though X-fi based cards are getting a bit long in the tooth at this point. The Mic input probably isn't significantly better; it's not a major focus for attention on consumer cards. A 50 Ohm headset should have no trouble being driven by either onboard or a...

    Solved! Sound Card Issues

Sound cutouts are usually an indication that something in the system is eating CPU time, as audio processing is light work but VERY sensitive to system latency. You can give DPC Latency Checker a try and see if it comes up with anything.

Output sound through both HDMI and dedicated sound card

Not easily. There's a handful of applications that allow you to override the default audio output device, so you can make those specific applications output to one audio device while the rest of the system outputs to another. Aside from that, there really isn't an easy way I know of to do what...

How can I connect 5.1 surround sound to my PC and activate in playing games?

First off: If the audio source isn't encoded to 5.1 or higher, you're only going to get stereo output. Simply having 5.1 speakers doesn't make all your audio magically convert to surround. Secondly, Optical can carry exactly three audio formats: 2.0 PCM 5.1 Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS Dolby/DTS...

    Sound Card Audio Software Question

That depends entirely on how the settings are saved. If the settings are saved in a file that gets deleted as part of the driver uninstall process, then the settings should be restored to default. If not, then the settings will likely be saved even after reinstalling the audio software. The...
