Also go to Sound in Control Panel. Open the Properties of Speakers and check the Level tab. Make sure the output is not 0 (zero).

That didn't work. :( If flashing the BIOS takes less than 20 seconds, I may install it. The notebook only lasts an average of 35 seconds, even while inside F2 Setup Utility.
