Super, thanks. Looks like I don't need to do anything about the optical drive (apart from take it out), but I *do* need to remove the craftily hidden screws under the little plastic covers!

Thanks, I tried that, and there is definitely some resistance. A bit much for me to pull much harder. I will see if I can talk to someone at HP who knows on Monday. I have my doubts based on previous experience, but it could be the only way to find out. Shame the documentation isn't correct though.

Thanks, I tried that though, and it says they are Philips screws. They don't look like it to me.

Hello, I am trying to change my RAM and apparently need to remove some screws above the optical drive. Any ideas? Are they actually some kind of clip? There is also a youtube video here. Around 2:08 shows points to the screws location, but I can't understand what it says unfortunately...
