Got it working, thanks. Ended up just re-cloning using the Samsung software which cloned the MBR properly. turns out my ODD is SATA II while the hard drive dock is SATA III, so I'm better off with this config anyway. Still feel a little defeated by my BIOS, but alls well that ends well.
